You may request any bound journal published before 1990 or textbook published before 1986 from the off-site storage facility. Please fill out a print request form at the circulation desk or go to the library catalog to request items. We will pull requests once a day at 2:30 p.m. Requests made after 2:30 will be available the next business day at circulation by 4:30. Requests made before 2:30 will be available that business day by 4:30. Please check the library catalog to see if we own the book or journal you are requesting. If we do not own the item, please request it through interlibrary loan. You may make interlibrary loan requests online or ask for a print form.
Requesting items from the Library Catalog
Go to the library homepage and click on “library catalog“. Click on the search tab and select the type of search from the drop-down menu. If you do a “Subject Alphabetical” search for pulmonary embolism, for example, you will find seven titles under that subject. Once you find a suitable textbook, click on “Request Item” or “Request Copy”. Then it will ask for your borrower ID number. Your borrower ID number is the last four of the first five numbers on the back of your UMMC ID. For example if the first five numbers on your ID are 03220, type in 3220. A “Request Confirmation” box will appear. You may add a comment or just click request. You should receive a message that your request has been successfully placed. We will only call if you have not picked up your items after three days. Please come to the circulation desk to retrieve your items.
Requesting bound journals from the Library Catalog
To request bound journals from the library catalog, search “Journal Titles Browse”. Click on the journal you would like to request and pull up the subscription summary. At the bottom below the holdings, click on the “show all items” link. Find the volume you would like to request and click “request copy”

Please check with circulation if you need any older items. We will retrieve books or journals that have been moved or order ones that are still unavailable through interlibrary loan. Thank you for your patience.
